Introducing Xerox Smart Start: How This Installer Software Speeds Up Printer Configuration
The Xerox Smart Start software helps you get new or factory reset printers up and running quickly—including networking, drivers, and everything else you might have previously had to configure by hand. Whether you’re getting a brand new printer or simply adding another to your fleet, the Smart Start software is able to make the process much faster.
You run the software on one of the networked Windows computers on your machine. It will automatically discover any new printers on the network—if you happen to have more than one new printer, the software will know and give you the opportunity to choose which one you want to explicitly configure.
Once you’ve selected the networked printer that you want to set up, the software will take care of the rest, including driver installation for the machine that Smart Start is running on. You may run Xerox Smart Start on other workstations across your network too, making it a great choice for small or midsize businesses without dedicated IT personnel.
What Print Architectures are Supported By Xerox Smart Start?
The Xerox Smart Start installer software supports Microsoft type 3 and type 4 print architecture systems. Windows 7, 8, and 10 are available, but keep in mind that Windows 7 doesn’t support type 4 print architecture—besides, Microsoft has dropped Windows 7 support as of last year, so you should have upgraded already for security and usability purposes.
