As you might have guessed, our team here at QDoxs are all big fans of Xerox technology. Many of us were working with Xerox products in our own office environments before coming to work at QDoxs, so our love of this leading brand isn’t just because we work here!
Today, we wanted to share with you a little history about the formation of our favorite market leader in innovative technology:
Xerox, the Name Synonymous With Copying
We’ve all heard it before—and everyone knows what it means. “Make a Xerox of this document, please,” you might ask, and of course what you’re really asking for is a copy of a document. Xerox technology is so ubiquitous in our daily lives that the name of the company is often used as a verb (in the same way as someone might tell you to Google for information).
This is largely thanks to the efforts of Chester Carlson way back in 1938, who invented the xerographic process (what we now call “making a copy”). By combining an electrically charged drum and an early form of toner powder, Carlson was able to successfully make the first dry, carbonless copy.

Modern Xerox technology has, of course, come a long way from the original Xerox 914, which was released in 1959 and revolutionized workplaces around the world.
